Birthday parties, Festivals, and Celebration Events. Hiring an ice , or wood speed carver for a live performance is a unique way to express your appreciation to some one, and a good way to enrich a special event. works of art can be created in as little as five minutes, or can take as long as three to four hours depending on the needs of the clients, and the theme of the event. I have done birthday parties where I spend the whole day carving 5 minute turtles for all the children who attended. My fair, and festival main carvings attract observers for hours, and days as I build inventory for a raffle, or auction...My larger sized sculpture installations intrigue crowds of visitors for weeks, and months, as the process continues.
In January 2005, I was resting at my peaceful central NY studio, 5 hours from a winter's worth of ice-carving madness in at the Bronx Zoo, and in the ICESCULPTORS of NY studio, in Harlem.
I received a phone call from the Late Show with David Letterman to return to Manhattan and carve for a spot on the show. The adventure, to say the least, was a major stepping stone in my career. I only had 16 hours between receiving the call and showtime, having been home only a day after a month in NYC. I said goodbye to Anne Marie (again), prepped my equipment, took a nap, and took off for the Big Apple. It was the second time they called. THe first trip was made a year earlier, in over 12 inches of snow. Ice was provided by for all of my NYC shows.www.icesculpturesofny.com.
Where would I be with out the love and support of my wife. After the Letterman Show I was asked to march in a parade for a local festival in Ithaca, my home town. It was a great opportunity for my wife, and my self to show all these years of hard work, coming together in the streets of the town I grew up in.
Many events call each year to have a wood, or ice carving demonstration. From the Bronx Zoo, To appearances on The Late Show, and The Travell Channel, five days of carving at a county fair,or just a small one day fall festival, in a small town. I have found a place in my heart for each. I have found that a big part of getting people to return to an event each year, is to have characters that will bring people back to your event. A majority of my rebooking each year is based solely on the fact that I am a fixture at any event, and that helps to bring paople in the gates each year.
An auction is a great way to raise funds for any event, or organization. As well as getting unique art work, and unique personality, you get entertainment that pays for itself, and has great potential to raise funds for your event, and organization. Many of the pieces I offer will sell well, especially around holidays, and strong birthday months, as they make great , especially unique gifts. Many of my works as well serve as functional, life, and space enriching art work. You can e-mail me for more specifics, and pricing info. miilquetoast@hotmail.com
